Sydney FC striker Matt Simon has been suspended for one A-League match for striking his forearm to the head of Central Coast defender Jake McGing.

The A-League's match review panel on Tuesday handed Simon the minimum sanction for his serious unsporting conduct offence, which occurred just before halftime of the Sky Blues' 4-1 win over a 10-man Mariners at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

It means he will miss Sydney's away match with Melbourne City on Saturday.
