Sydney FC have signed US National Women's Soccer League goalkeeper of the year Michelle Betos for the upcoming W-League season.
The 27-year-old has signed a season-long loan deal from the Portland Thorns FC where she played alongside Matildas Steph Catley and Claire Polkinghorne.
"I was so impressed with the Matildas during this past World Cup and have heard great things about the league from Steph Catley and Claire Polkinghorne, my club teammates in the US league," Betos said.
"Jasmyne Spencer also said her experience with Sydney FC last year was top notch and learning about the different cultures of the world, both on and off the pitch, is an opportunity that I could not pass up.
"I'm really looking forward to being in such a great city and helping the team have another successful year."
Betos became the first goalkeeper to score a goal in the NWSL when her 95th-minute header earned her team a draw against FC Kansas City.
The Sky Blues kick off their W-League campaign against Melbourne City at Leichhardt on October 18.
