Sydney FC have completed the signing of Slovakia international Filip Holosko on a two year deal, replacing the departed Marc Janko.
Janko won the A-League's golden boot award last season after scoring 16 goals, but Sydney FC chose not to renew his services, despite the Austrian saying he wanted to stay.
The Sky Blues have signed new striker Holosko from Turkish club Besiktas, where he spent eight years, scoring 42 goals in 144 games.
"I am delighted to be able to announce Filip Holosko as our international marquee for the next two years," said Sydney FC Chairman Scott Barlow.
"The signing of Holosko is the latest in a long list of first-class marquee players to have worn the Sydney FC shirt.
"Graham Arnold was very specific in the type of attacking player he wanted to bring to Sydney FC, he has found that in Filip and we are delighted to have been able to secure him for the club."
Holosko, 31, has played in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions for Besiktas and will arrive in Sydney in August with a vast array of international experience after 65 caps for Slovakia.
Sydney FC Coach Arnold believes Holosko will impress supporters and provide the firepower the Sky Blues need.
"Filip is a multi-functional player who can play anywhere across the front-line," he said.
"After having to replace Bernie Ibini, he fitted the requirements of what I was looking for.
"He comes with a top pedigree having played for a massive club in Turkey and brings a lot of international experience to the squad.
"He has the style of a strong and fast player who I am sure will excite the Sydney FC fans.
"He's also at a great age and is hungry for success," Arnold said.
Holosko's signing comes within a week of Sydney FC adding Serbia international midfielder Milos Ninkovic to their list, also for two years.
