Former Socceroo Alex Brosque could make a shock return to Sydney FC next season, with Sky Blues CEO Tony Pignata confirming that the club is in talks with the 30-year-old striker.
Brosque left Sydney in 2011, shortly after signing a new three-year contract with the club, to join Japanese outfit Shimizu S-Pulse on a lucrative deal. But with the Sky Blues searching for a replacement for former Australian marquee Brett Emerton, Brosque could well find himself back in the Harbour City as he seeks to re-ignite his international career.
The news follows last week’s signing of former Mariners’ marksman Bernie Ibini and the re-signing of versatile defender Matt Jurman earlier this week, as new coach Graham Arnold looks to build his squad for the 2014-2015 A-League campaign.
Have your say: Do you think signing Brosque is a good move? And do you have any resentment towards him over the way he left the club three years ago?
